I was sitting with my friend
She said the need for feminism’s dead
I said honey
You need to check your head
Just last month my mum was in the courts
She was trying to sue her old work
They’d paid her less than a man doing the same
Because she wears a dress and she has a woman’s name
We’re women and we’re fighters
And we’re not afraid to be brave
Think of all those magazines
Read by all our little teens
If you think it’s right to sit and bitch about girls
For being slightly overweight and not owning pearls
Then you’re one of those that adds to anorexia
We need to re-evaluate how we treat our sisters
Think about how you look at yourself
Do those magazines affect your mental health?
We’re women and we’re fighters
And we’re not afraid to be brave
Think of a girl in the Belgian congo
Where rape is being used in war
Listen to me and please don’t let go
Of your faith
Your sisters need your embrace
They need you to say
We’re women and we’re fighters
And we’re not afraid to be brave
If we don’t stand up for each other
We’re digging our own graves
I’m not saying that we should hate men
Because I think men are great
But think how you’d feel living in an Islamic State
Where you can get stoned for getting raped
Because there weren’t seven men there to contest it happened
You’re husband throws you on the street for being damaged
You’re all alone, you have no one to take your hand
It’s not too bad in the West so thank your lucky stars
We’re women and we’re fighters
And we’re not afraid to be brave
